ALERT

How Unauthorised Numbers* Undermine the Integrity of GS1 Standards
(Unauthorised Numbers = barcode numbers not issued or allocated directly by GS1)

“Our barcode numbers come from the same original system as GS1 barcode numbers and can be used internationally in the vast majority of stores.” - quoted from Barcodes Malaysia, unauthorised reseller

GS1 is the only authorised organisation to allocate GS1 GTIN-13, GTIN-14, GTIN-8, GTIN-12, EAN-13, ITF-14, UPC-A and UPC-E barcodes. Therefore, barcode numbers offered by unauthorized barcode resellers are unrecognised & unverifiable identifiers that are NOT part of GS1's System of Standards, undermining the integrityuniqueness and ubiquity of the GS1 System and Identification.

Examples of unauthorised resellers:

• Barcodes Malaysia
• Barcode Savers
• Hani of OEM Group (+6011-****8380)
